What Dooder is good at
Dooder is built for quick moments: a question, a reminder, adding something to Notion or Todoist. It isn't made for long research, writing or multi-step jobs. Your Watch keeps answers short, and anything that takes minutes is better on your phone or computer.
Getting started
What you need
- Apple Watch Series 9 or later, or Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later, with watchOS 26. Dooder is built and tested on Apple Watch Ultra 3.
- An iPhone with iOS 26.
- About 300 MB free on your Watch.
- A Claude API key (recommended during the beta) or a ChatGPT plan.
Set up Dooder
- Install Dooder from TestFlight on your iPhone. The Watch app installs with it. If it doesn't appear on your Watch, open the Watch app on your iPhone, find Dooder under Available Apps and tap Install.
- Open Dooder on your iPhone. Anything still to do shows at the top under Finish setting up.
- Choose your AI: tap AI provider, pick Claude or ChatGPT, and add your key or sign in. See Your AI provider.
- Let Dooder get ready. The first time, your iPhone downloads Dooder's hearing (about 230 MB) and sends it to your Watch. It takes a few minutes and only happens once. You can leave the screen; keep your iPhone near your Watch.
- Open Dooder on your Watch, tap the screen and ask something.
Until the hearing is ready, Dooder uses Apple's dictation, so you can start asking straight away.
Talking to Dooder
- Tap the Watch screen, or double tap your fingers together, then talk. Dooder stops listening when you finish speaking.
- Your words appear as you say them, so you can see Dooder heard you right.
- To stop an answer, tap the screen. To ask a follow-up, tap again and keep talking: Dooder remembers what you were talking about.
- Prefer typing? Long-press Dooder and turn on Use Keyboard.
You can change how listening starts in the iPhone app under Talking:
- Tap to talk (the default).
- Raise to talk: while Dooder is open, raise your wrist and start speaking.
- Hold to talk: hold the screen while you talk, let go to send, slide left to cancel.
When Dooder asks you something back, it listens for your answer straight away, with a tap and a little sound. Turn this off with Listen after a question.
Get to Dooder faster
- Complication: edit a watch face and add Ask Dooder. It opens Dooder already listening.
- Action button (Apple Watch Ultra): in the Watch app on your iPhone, set the Action button to the Ask Dooder shortcut.
- Siri: say "Ask Dooder".
Answers and cards
Dooder answers with a card sized for your wrist: the weather, scores and fixtures, a place on a map, a list. It says a short version out loud through your AirPods if they're connected, or the Watch speaker.
- Turn the voice off under Voice and sounds on the iPhone, or from the Watch's long-press menu.
- Choose a female or male voice under Customise.
- For your Watch screen to stay on while you read, set Wake Duration to Wake for 70 Seconds in the Watch app on your iPhone (Display & Brightness).
Your AI provider
Dooder doesn't come with its own AI; it uses yours. Choose one in the iPhone app under AI provider. Only one is used at a time and you can switch whenever you like.
Claude (recommended for the beta)
- Create an API key in the Claude Console (console.anthropic.com).
- In Dooder on your iPhone, open AI provider, choose Claude, paste the key and tap Save to Watch.
- Dooder checks the key with Anthropic, sends it to your Watch and clears it from the iPhone. It's never shown again.
- Pick a model: Claude Haiku is quickest; Claude Sonnet thinks a little harder.
Usage is billed to your Anthropic account. We recommend a key just for Dooder with a monthly spending limit. To stop Dooder using a key, tap Remove key in the app, or delete the key in the Claude Console.
ChatGPT (experimental)
Choose ChatGPT and tap Sign in with ChatGPT. You sign in on OpenAI's own page; Dooder never sees your password. The sign-in is handed to your Watch and the iPhone keeps no copy. Your account email shows in the app so you know which account is in use.
Connected apps
Connect apps like Notion, Todoist and Linear so Dooder can find things and add things there.
- On your iPhone, tap Add an app.
- Pick from the popular apps or search the library. Apps come from the official MCP Registry. A seal means the app's server is on its publisher's own domain.
- Sign in to the app in the window that opens. When it's done, the app shows under Connected apps and Dooder celebrates on your Watch.
Have an app's MCP server address? Use Add by address at the bottom of the list.
Before Dooder changes anything in a connected app, like creating a page or updating a task, it shows you what it's about to do and waits for your OK on the Watch. Reading and searching don't need an OK.
Apps you add by address are treated more carefully: Dooder asks before every request to them, even a search, and shows the server it's going to, what it's asking and everything it's sending.
To disconnect, tap the app under Connected apps and choose Disconnect.
Calendar and reminders
- Dooder can read your calendar ("What's on tomorrow?") and your Reminders.
- It can set a reminder at a time ("Remind me at 5 to call Sam") and add to your lists ("Add milk to my shopping list").
- Turn these on or off under Calendar and Reminders in the iPhone app. Your Watch asks for permission the first time.
Memory and past chats
- Dooder remembers things you tell it, like names, places and how you like things. When something is saved, your Watch shows it with Undo. Ask it to forget something and it removes that one thing, also with Undo. If several things match, it asks which one you mean.
- It keeps your recent conversations so you can pick one up again: swipe right on the Watch for your last chat, or long-press and choose Recent chats.
- See or delete what Dooder remembers under Memory in the iPhone app. Everything stays on your devices and only reaches your AI as part of a question.
Saved prompts
Save questions you ask often, like "How's the surf at Bondi?", in the iPhone app under Saved prompts.
- Long-press Dooder on your Watch: the first three saved prompts sit at the top of the menu, and the rest are under All saved prompts.
- Reorder them on the iPhone (tap Edit) to choose which three come first.
- Saved prompts run quietly: Dooder shows the answer without speaking or playing sounds.
Places and maps
When Dooder finds a place, the card shows it on a small map with two buttons:
- Directions opens walking directions on your Watch.
- On iPhone opens the place on your iPhone, in Google Maps if it's installed or Apple Maps otherwise. Change this under Places and maps.
Customise
Under Customise in the iPhone app, choose Dooder's colour and a female or male voice. Ask Dooder something on your Watch to hear it.
Privacy
Dooder has no servers. There's no Dooder account and nothing of yours is sent to us.
- Your voice is turned into text on your Watch. Audio never leaves it.
- The words of your question, with what's needed to answer it (the conversation so far, what Dooder remembers about you, and your rough location or calendar only when a question needs them), go straight from your Watch to your AI provider.
- Connected apps are reached directly from your Watch, with the sign-in you gave them.
- Your API key or ChatGPT sign-in is stored in your Watch's secure storage. The iPhone keeps no copy.
- During setup, your iPhone downloads the speech model once from Hugging Face. The app library is loaded from the official MCP Registry.

Troubleshooting
"Set up your AI on iPhone"
Dooder has no AI to ask yet. Open the iPhone app, tap AI provider, and add a Claude key or sign in with ChatGPT.
"Didn't hear anything"
Dooder didn't pick up any speech. Talk a little closer to the Watch, or check the microphone isn't covered. If it keeps happening, Dooder switches to Apple's dictation by itself when the microphone isn't working.
"Couldn't make that out"
Dooder heard you but couldn't work out the words. Try again in a quieter spot, or a little slower.
Getting ready is taking a while
The first setup downloads about 230 MB and sends it to your Watch, which can take a few minutes. Keep your iPhone near your Watch, ideally with the Watch on its charger. The same progress shows on both devices.
Your Watch needs more space
Dooder needs about 300 MB free on your Watch. Remove some music, podcasts, photos or apps from your Watch in the Watch app on your iPhone. Setup carries on by itself once there's room.
Answers say the key wasn't accepted
Your Claude key may have been deleted, run out of credit or hit its spending limit. Check it in the Claude Console, then add it again under AI provider.
A connected app stopped working
Its sign-in may have expired. On your iPhone, tap the app under Connected apps, disconnect it, and add it again.
The answer disappears too quickly
Set your Watch to Wake for 70 Seconds in the Watch app on your iPhone (Display & Brightness > Wake Duration).
Questions
Does it cost anything?
Dooder is free during the beta. You pay your AI provider for what you use (a Claude key is billed by Anthropic; ChatGPT uses your plan).
Does it need my iPhone nearby?
Only for setup and changing settings. After that Dooder works on the Watch by itself, over Wi-Fi or cellular.
Is it open source?
No. Dooder has no servers and keeps your keys on your Watch, and the privacy policy explains exactly where your data goes.
How do I give feedback?
Send it from TestFlight (take a screenshot on your iPhone, or use the TestFlight app), or email support@dooder.ai.
